City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to small groups and individual students Support classroom instruction through review activities and skill practice Mentor students to build motivation, confidence, and social-emotional skills Track and report student progress using established tools and data systems Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align support with classroom goals Communicate with families and school partners as directed to support student success Participate in City Year trainings, coaching, and professional development Contribute to a positive, inclusive school climate and uphold City Year’s values Tutoring in math Tutoring in English/literacy Lesson planning Academic assessment Classroom management support Student mentoring/coaching Behavioral intervention strategies Data entry & progress tracking Family & teacher communication Basic computer skills (Google/Microsoft suite) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required Experience working or volunteering with K–12 youth preferred Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (e.g., citizenship or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass required background checks Commitment to a full academic year of service5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
