City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to students in grades K–12 Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement Support classroom instruction through small-group and one-on-one interventions Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align support with classroom goals Engage in training, coaching, and professional development activities Participate in team meetings, school events, and family outreach as needed Tutoring (math, ELA, or other core subjects) Lesson planning and academic intervention Student assessment and progress monitoring Classroom management support Mentoring and youth development Small-group instruction Behavioral support and de-escalation Data entry and reporting on student outcomes Collaboration with teachers and school staff Basic technology skills (Google Workspace/MS Office) Ability to meet AmeriCorps eligibility requirements (e.g., U.S. citizen or legal resident, background check) Interest or prior experience in education, youth work, or community service CPR/First Aid certification a plus but not required Spanish or other second-language proficiency a plus5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
