This position primarily supports the clinical mission of the Division of Hospital Medicine. The Division provides clinical care at:
Hourly hospitalists perform admissions, cross-coverage to admitted patients, and round and discharge patients who have been admitted.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesTeaching – Hourly hospitalists have no specific teaching responsibilities but may interact with learners at a variety of levels and from a variety of other specialties.
Research – Hourly hospitalists have no specific research expectation.
Service – Faculty are expected to work with institutional staff and administration to attain the strategic objectives of VCU Health System, including patient safety, patient satisfaction, maintenance and enhancement of public perception, and fiscal health.
Clinical – Hourly hospitalists primarily admit, manage, and discharge patients on the hospitalist-led inpatient services. Our team assures service coverage 24‑hours a day, every day of the year in collaboration with the advanced practice providers on the hospitalist service. Team members should comply in a timely manner with all institutional policies for professional work including credentialing, documentation, billing and work effectively with other members of the extended interprofessional team.
