Salary:$85,000 - $95,000 annually
Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt (40+ hours/week)
Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm with on-call responsibilities for emergency situations
Work Environment: 1-2 days in the office; 3-4 days in the field visiting residential programs

The Arc of Greater Prince William / INSIGHT, Inc. is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Director of Quality Assurance & Risk Management to lead our agency-wide quality improvement and risk management initiatives supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

This executive-level position plays a critical role in ensuring our residential and community-based services promote and protect each individual's rights, dignity, health, safety, personal choice, and community inclusion while maintaining compliance with all applicable state regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Director serves as a strategic leader responsible for fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement, regulatory excellence, and person-centered supports throughout the organization.

What You'll DoQuality Assurance Leadership
  • Lead the agency's Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
  • Develop measurable quality outcomes and collaborate with leadership to improve services across all departments.
  • Review internal investigations and serious incidents to ensure compliance with regulations, agency policy, and individual rights.
  • Monitor service quality with a strong emphasis on person-centered planning, self-determination, independence, and community integration.
  • Provide consultation, coaching, and training to managers and Direct Support Professionals.
  • Ensure Individual Support Plan (ISP) processes effectively support each individual's goals, needs, and choices.
  • Coordinate Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) licensing reviews and oversee Plans of Correction when necessary.
  • Maintain and update Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
  • Lead agency participation in accreditation surveys (CARF or other accrediting bodies), including preparation, onsite reviews, and follow-up activities.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes, best practices, and emerging trends within developmental disability services.
Risk Management
  • Lead the agency's Risk Management Program.
  • Conduct investigations, root cause analyses, and identify trends using incident and quality data.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce organizational risk and improve safety.
  • Conduct annual organizational risk assessments addressing:
    • Environment of Care
    • Clinical assessment processes
    • Staff competency and staffing adequacy
    • High-risk procedures
    • Serious incident trends
  • Complete and document annual safety inspections at all service locations.
  • Evaluate serious injuries and recommend preventive corrective actions.
  • Promote proactive risk reduction while supporting quality outcomes for individuals receiving services.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of residential services experience.
  • Experience leading teams and providing supervision to managers.
  • Experience with investigations, quality assurance, compliance, and regulatory oversight.
  • Working knowledge of Virginia DBHDS regulations and residential licensing requirements.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and Therap Electronic Health Record.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and presentation skills.
  • Experience conducting root cause analyses and developing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience utilizing quality and risk management data to improve organizational performance.
