A nationally recognized defense law firm is seeking a litigation associate to join its growing trial-focused practice. The role offers hands-on responsibility, meaningful courtroom exposure, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced trial lawyers on sophisticated matters for national and international clients.
The Practice
The litigation group handles complex, high-stakes defense matters, including general liability, product liability, transportation, premises liability, catastrophic injury, and other commercial and tort-based disputes. Attorneys in the group are actively involved in all phases of litigation, from case strategy through trial and resolution.
Responsibilities
- Manage a broad range of litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions
- Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
- Conduct written discovery and manage document review and production
- Prepare witnesses and develop case strategy in collaboration with partners
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Maintain direct client and insurer communication
- Work closely with a collaborative team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff
Qualifications
- 2+ years of litigation experience in a law firm, government, or comparable litigation setting
- Strong experience with motion practice, discovery, and case management
- Prior courtroom, hearing, or trial experience strongly preferred
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working effectively in a team environment
- Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction of the office (or ability to obtain admission promptly)
