Accounting Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Accounting Manager at Rooney Properties, you will play a vital role within our growing Team. You are relied upon for overseeing the Team’s daily and monthly processes, including financial operations, reporting and compliance, internal controls, month-end close and Team leadership. Training and mentoring the Senior Accountant will be a key component in streamlining our accounting operations. The Team will work with the VP of Accounting & Finance to support the financial operations of our real estate development and management business. We work in tandem with our Construction & Development Management Team members to support the growth and success of our real estate projects.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Review and post monthly recurring journal entries prepared by Senior Accountant.
- Review and post monthly rent charges and corresponding receipts for several properties, prepared by Senior Accountant.
- Review Balance Sheet reconciliations and P&L Analytics for all properties, prepared by Senior Accountant.
- Provide guidance and training to support Senior Accountant.
- Work with Senior Accountant to audit Monthly Operating Reports and Balance Sheet reconciliations from third-party property-management teams on stabilized properties. Review and post monthly Trial Balance activity, prepared and uploaded by Senior Accountant.
- Manage month-end close.
- Financial statement preparation for all SPEs in the Rooney Properties portfolio, including consolidated financial statements.
- Distribution of monthly financial reporting package to executive leadership.
- Preparation and distribution of financial reporting packages to lenders.
- Manage the monthly Draw process in Procure2Pay module. Work with Construction & Development Team once Draws are ready for review.
- Work directly with our third-party property-management teams and JV partners.
- Work closely with the audit and tax teams.
- Support and partner with Construction & Development Team members on budgets and other financial projects

- Must be flexible with the ability to pivot and take on new tasks as needed.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Audit experience is a plus.
- Experience with Yardi Voyager is a plus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Accounting Degree
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with previous supervisory experience
