We are seeking a Field Service Engineer for one of our clients in Washington, DC.
Job Description:
- You'll be a key part of a cross-functional team that helps critical institutions solve their most pressing problems. Together with a team of analysts, developers, technical project managers, and systems experts, you will be directly responsible for keeping a Palantir system running smoothly and securely. You'll serve as the team's expert and owner for all things systems administration. You are the first line of defense against a variety of threats to the uptime of your servers.
- On calm days, you'll proactively keep systems safe and secure through industry best practices, security updates, and Palantir-developed systems automation. When issues arise, you'll monitor alerts and logs to identify problems, triage outages, and work with your team to resolve issues permanently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer enterprise Linux servers, including patching, security hardening, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Manage AWS cloud accounts using Terraform, and troubleshoot via AWS Console and CLI.
- Oversee data storage and indexing systems, including monitoring, backups, and upgrades.
- Configure and maintain web servers, including monitoring and configuration management.
- Coordinate with customer IT teams to implement changes and troubleshoot intersystem issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters in production
- Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible)
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI)
- Excellent communication skills for working with tenants
- Ability to translate application requirements into Kubernetes configurations
Clearance:
- Active TS/SCI clearance is mandatory; work is in person.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Linux system administration experience
- Hardware troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of AWS
- Experience with OS security and hardening
- Automation skills (Ansible, Python)
- Experience with enterprise patching and configuration management
- Knowledge of database and web server operation and configuration
- Strong commitment to operational security
